Our History

Working for Justice
Founded in 1948, Westover Hills came into being during the tumult of the Civil Rights era. Both the congregation and our founding pastor, Rev. Richard “Preacher Dick” Hardie, were outspoken critics of both segregation in public accommodations and the tacit acceptance of segregation in the church. Today that legacy of those early days continues as Westover continues to be a voice for equity and inclusion in Little Rock and beyond.
Our Future

Building a Better World
Following the celebration of our 75th anniversary in 2023, Westover Hills embarked on a year-long discernment and planning process that led to our current strategic plan and vision for the next chapter in our life together. That vision builds on our legacy while shaping our work and message for today.
