Westover Hills hosted 140+ people from 15 different religious communities on Saturday February 7 for a meal packing event. Working with the Interfaith Center and City Connections Hunger Relief Army, volunteers from Christian, Muslim, B’hahi, Buddhist, Unitarian, and Ethical Humanist communities came together in common cause to fight hunger in Arkansas.
Volunteers learned that 1 in 5 senior adults and 1 in 4 children in Arkansas are food insecure. The 20,000 meals packed were a visible sign of both solidarity with the hungry in our community and an effort to move the needle to make Arkansas a place where no one goes to bed hungry.
The event was such a success a future event is in the works!
